Welcome to the PortalApp Demo Site. This site is an example of what you can rapidly deploy with this versatile CMS and portal system.

A New Blog Post

PortalApp has a blog engine built right in. It enables you to create a blog, and the layout template is fully customizable so that any other HTML, scripts, content or portal widgets can be plugged-in. Here is a brief list of the types of Web sites that can be deployed with PortalApp CMF.

PortalApp Defined

PortalApp is a fast, flexible, configurable Website and Content Management (CMS) portal framework that lets you rapidly deploy portals, intranets, communities and other concent-centric Websites. Use PortalApp to manage users, content, security, feeds and other functionality from a Web-based control panel. Custom Content Templates

It's not a huge surprise that PortalApp uses templates to make the site, modules and views customizable, but there is a template feature that you might not expect. Any specific content item can have it's own detail template. This feature is very handy if you want some dynamic element inside an article or blog posting. This could also be used if you want an entirely different look, layout or set of fields used in a single content item.

Google Maps Integration

PortalApp's pre-defined Directory Content Type is integrated with the Google Maps API. This can be used to create a directory of links, listings or business profiles that contain a geo-centric Google Map based on the address for the listing.

First, we used a Custom Attributes Template for the "Directory" Content Type to set-up some address specific fields (address, city, state, zip) that we want to plug into the Google Map. Next, the Detail Template for the "Directory" Content Type uses the GoogleMaps Class to display the map and pinpoint the values from our custom fields.

The Demo Site

We've put the new PortalApp demo site live today! Check it out at http://demo.portalapp.net. Some features to take a look:

Template-based site and module layouts. PortalApp includes more that 100 templates out-of-the-box. These templates establish the layout of the site, it's modules and are even used to define custom fields and RSS output. PortalApp also includes Tokens. Tokens are pre-packaged widgets and code-snippets that can be plugged into the templates using a [%simple%] token. The tokens lets you instantly plug-in functionality like tag clouds, ad panels, content lists, user profiles, calendars and more.
